Aref Karim is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of QCM, and serves as its Chief Investment Officer. He is responsible for the overall direction of the firm, including strategy, research, and investment management. Aref brings decades of experience across portfolio construction, risk management, and the development of quantitative and systematic investment strategies.

A Chartered Accountant by training and a Fellow of the Institute in the UK, Aref previously held a senior leadership role at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), where he served from 1982 to 1995. At ADIA, he pioneered the launch of the institution’s multi-billion-dollar Alternative Investment Portfolio and played a key role in shaping its asset allocation and investment policy frameworks.
